Blossom Japan
Cherry blossom, Kyoto
For a short window each spring, Kyoto's cherry trees bloom along canals, temple paths and riverbanks. The Philosopher's Path follows a stone-lined canal under an arch of blossom, Maruyama Park gathers families under its famous weeping cherry, and Arashiyama pairs pink hillsides with the Katsura River. Start early to walk before the crowds, and check the bloom forecast, since peak bloom shifts from year to year.
