Colosseum, Forum & Palatine

  • One ticket, one timed Colosseum slot — the Forum and Palatine stay open access

The standard combined ticket, sold through the official Colosseum Archaeological Park site, books a specific timed entry slot for the Colosseum itself, and that time is when to be at the gate. The Roman Forum and Palatine Hill share the same ticket but can be entered at any point within its validity window, before or after the Colosseum, through any of the area’s three gates.

The Pantheon

  • It's no longer a free walk-in stop

Since mid-2023 the Pantheon has charged general admission, sold through its own official ticket office — booking online ahead avoids the queue that now forms outside what used to be free. Entry stays free on the first Sunday of every month.

Trevi Fountain

  • The coin toss has a fixed technique — and funds a real charity

Tradition holds you throw a coin with your right hand over your left shoulder, back to the fountain, to guarantee a return to Rome. The coins are swept up by the city and go to Caritas Roma, a Catholic charity that runs food and welfare programs for people in need across the city — not just a photo prop.
