National Cherry Blossom Festival

The National Cherry Blossom Festival in Washington, DC celebrates the cherry trees that the city of Tokyo gave to the United States in 1912. The loop around the Tidal Basin passes the Jefferson Memorial and the Martin Luther King Jr. Memorial under a canopy of pale blossom, and it is an easy, flat walk for all ages. Sunrise is the calmest time, before the crowds and the parade weekend traffic arrive.
