Disney Springs is the part of Walt Disney World that costs nothing to enter. No ticket, no park gate, free parking in the garages — just an open-air district of shops, restaurants and theaters wrapped around the water at Lake Buena Vista, themed as a Florida springs town that grew outward from its source. It is where you go on arrival night, on a rest day between parks, or any evening you want a proper dinner without leaving the Disney bubble.

The district splits into four neighborhoods. The Marketplace is the classic side: World of Disney, one of the largest Disney stores anywhere, and the LEGO Store with its giant brick sculptures posing for photos outside. The Landing is the waterfront restaurant row, home of The BOATHOUSE and its amphicars — vintage cars that roll down a ramp, drive straight into the lake and cruise. Town Center is the newest section, flagship shopping built around the springs that give the whole place its name. The West Side carries the big-ticket entertainment: Cirque du Soleil’s resident show ‘Drawn to Life’, House of Blues, and the Aerophile balloon, tethered and rising for a slow view over the whole resort.

How a visit flows. Come late afternoon. Walk the Marketplace and Town Center shops before the dinner crowd arrives, take a table on The Landing for sunset over the water, then give the evening to the West Side — a show, live music, or just the lit-up waterfront. Walking all four districts end to end and back is roughly five kilometers.

Good to know:

The good restaurants take reservations and fill up. Book ahead the way you would in a real city.
Weekend evenings are the crush; a weeknight feels like a different, calmer place.
The Aerophile balloon is weather-dependent and stands down in wind. Treat a flight as a bonus, not a plan.
Boats connect Disney Springs to several Disney resorts. Arriving across the water beats the parking garage.

Start on the classic side of the Springs. World of Disney is one of the largest Disney stores anywhere — if a piece of merchandise exists, it is in here somewhere — and the LEGO Store next along the water greets you with giant brick sculptures out front and build tables inside. Browse now, buy on the way out.

The waterfront restaurant row, and the district to plan dinner around. The BOATHOUSE is the landmark: a nautical restaurant whose fleet of vintage amphicars rolls down a ramp and drives straight into the lake for guided cruises. Time a table here for sunset over the water.

The newest and most polished section, built as a Spanish-revival springs town around the actual springs that give Disney Springs its name. This is the flagship-shopping stretch — big international brands in low, handsome buildings rather than a mall. Worth a slow walk even if you buy nothing.

Cirque du Soleil performs its resident show 'Drawn to Life' in the purpose-built theater at the far end, House of Blues covers the live-music side, and the Aerophile tethered balloon rises from the middle of it all for a slow aerial view of the resort.
