Discovery Cove: The Day Orlando Slows Down

The water is heated year-round, so March–May and September–October give you warm swimming without peak-summer sun or the near-daily afternoon thunderstorms. In summer, plan your reef time for the morning before the storms build.

Daily attendance is limited by design, and popular dates genuinely sell out well in advance. This is not a park you decide on the night before; reserve your date as early as your trip plans allow.

The swim at Dolphin Lagoon is an optional add-on booked together with your admission, not something you can add at the gate. If it is the reason you are coming, lock it in when you book your date.

The park is on the SeaWorld campus just off I-Drive, so any hotel on the corridor puts you minutes from check-in — useful, because you want to arrive early. I-Drive is the natural base for the whole SeaWorld trio.

Breakfast, lunch, snacks and drinks all day are part of admission, from the same buffet-style lodge. There is no reason to carry food or plan meals; eat when you are hungry and get back in the water.

Small children who are not ready for the deep reef can spend the whole day drifting the warm river, feeding birds in the aviary and playing off Serenity Bay’s shallow beach. Swim vests in kids’ sizes are provided.

Discovery Cove shares the SeaWorld campus off I-4 on the International Drive corridor, and parking is included in admission. If you are doing SeaWorld or Aquatica on the same trip, you are commuting to the same corner all week.

Loungers on the best stretches of sand go early, and the reef is at its clearest and calmest in the first hour. Check in as early as your reservation allows, set up camp, and do the Grand Reef before your first snack break.
