Blossom France
Lavender bloom, Provence
In early summer the lavender fields of Provence bloom in long purple rows. The Valensole plateau has the widest open fields, while the Abbaye Notre-Dame de Sénanque near Gordes frames lavender against old stone, and the Luberon villages connect by quiet lanes. Walk in the early morning for soft light and cooler air, keep to field edges, and never pick from farmers' rows.
